I was at my nephew’s wedding, and his step-brother (from previous to my sister’s marriage so not my nephew) and wife wore jeans with dressier shirts. It didn’t even register with me at the time but I heard the bride and groom were livid at what they thought was a disrespectful act. So I guess the point I’m making is the difference is the asking ahead of time if something like that is okay. As this couple didn’t I guess the bride and groom was were right in thinking it was meant to be disrespectful.
