Originally published in Holland, this picture book with minimal illustrations tells the story of Coco Chanel, an orphan who grew up to become a fashion designer in France. Eventually, she begins designing hats and clothing that allowed women to abandon the tight-fighting corsets necessary for the clothing that had been the fashion up until recently. This is a marvelous, accessible tribute to a style icon and a woman who relied on hard work and her own vision to make her mark.
This product has a very low price tag, but that doesn’t mean it skimps on quality like many other cheap products tend to do. If you are looking for the best and most reliable dress money can buy in , then look no further. Coco Chanel Black Dress is one of the most popular products in its category because of how well it does at doing its job.

She opened her signature boutique at 31 Rue Cambon which is still her signature store today. Vogue described the dress as Chanels Ford after Henry Fords popular car of that time because Chanels little black dress was accessible to women of all social classes. The fashion bible immediately predicted that this will be the frock that all the world will wear and they were right.
Helps glorify the story of the creator of the little black dress. From the orphanage that she grew up in to the rich and glamorous life she lead later on, this book is a lovely introduction for children to the life of one of the most famous names in fashion. A beautifully illustrated picture book biography of Coco Chanel.
Part 2 of 3:Accessorizing in Style
Vogue likened the dress to Henry Ford’s Model T automobile. It draped form the shoulders and bloused at the hips in the front. The front was accented by pin tucks that formed a V from center front up to the shoulders. The original was fashioned from a black crepe de chine fabric. Vogue would later comment on the design that is was a uniform of sorts for women.
I read two pictures about Coco Chanel today and even though this one didn't fully go into her biography I liked this one a lot more because it was more body-positive. It showed larger women in a positive light, where the other one was demeaning and left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Needless to say, Coco Chanel had a lot to do with shaping our skinny-or-else culture, but this book didn't make me feel bad about myself by the end of it.
Betty Boop’s Flirty Cocktail Dress
In 1881 the American painter John Singer Sargent met Madame Gautreau in Paris society. He became fascinated with her languid beauty and her mode of dress, which seemed ahead of her time. She agreed to sit for a portrait , which he titled "Madame X" . The painting, perhaps Sargent's best work, was accepted for the Salon of 1884. To his shock and consternation, the painting became an instant scandal, viewed as salacious because of the sexual suggestiveness of her pose and the revealing nature of the black dress.
Since CHANEL women’s dresses often come with a high price tag, buying on eBay is a great way to enjoy the brand’s legendary quality for less. The greatest thing about the flapper dress pattern is it's simplicity. As legend has it, the flapper silhouette was invented by Coco Chanel while she was vacationing in Deuville, France.

The book is geared to children as young as four years, and my daughter was able to appreciate and follow it. As a parent, it is always nice to learn something from reading, and I did with this book. The book begins in the orphanage where Coco learned to sew then follows her career and how she observed how the rich and famous acted, but Coco was always astonished as their fashion choices.
She really wanted a difference and stood up for her independence. Coco always wanted something different, so it does not surprise me to hear that she was the one who took initiative of becoming the icon of the little black dress. She set a tone that it was okay to be different and really allowed ladies clothing to come to terms with comfortableness. I truly don’t stay up to date with the fashion world, so reading about Coco Channel’s life was very interesting to me.
